How to use your Brain - making your memory work for revision

(1)
Students learn a visual technique to remembering lists of words. Testing before and after learning the technique will reveal a massive improvement. The brain is much better at remembering images than words alone - examples of applying this to academic subject matter are given. The presentation links to a video clip of a world memory champion describing his technique. This resource would be excellent for a whole year group activity or PSHE lesson.

Very competitive, fast paced and really fun - my students favourite type of quiz. An interactive whiteboard quiz for two players answering questions simultaneously on each side of the IWB. This is the “creator” template allowing you to make new games with your choice of questions. This quiz won a Microsoft innovation award. Below are links to four free examples to try before you buy. Please note that performance may vary on some types of whiteboard. Energy Cells Forces Digestive system

Science Assembly - Do try this at home experiments

(1)
PowerPoint animations describing three exciting experiments for an assembly. i) A no-handed mug catch ii) Non-popping balloon immune to candles iii) Floating teabags. I got students to perform the experiments. A script is included in the footnotes. The teabags work better launched from a paper surface - they seem to get stuck with heat-proof mats.
